Imagine being heavily pregnant and being sent to live in a house with strangers. Not knowing what would be next. That’s what happened to this pregnant basset hound.
This is the story of a shelter dog we will call “Millie” and her pups. She was a pregnant basset hound featured on foster diaries on the Dodo.
The video starts with the occupant of the home explaining Millies situation. The woman agreed to foster Minnie temporarily and to help care for her puppies. That was until a suitable owner was found.
About Millie
She was likely abandoned as she ended up in a shelter. It’s not entirely clear if she got pregnant in the shelter or if she was pregnant before coming to the shelter. It’s rather unfortunate that too many fur babies end up becoming abandoned for one reason or another.
But luckily for Millie, a foster was found for her. Probably because she was so heavily pregnant. Minnie adjusted very well to her foster home and was a generally happy dog. Getting much needed love and care would do that for pretty much anyone.
They did now know the health status of the puppies or even the breed of the dog that impregnated her. So they would have to find out after she gave birth to her liter.
“One of the trickiest thing is, you have no idea about their prenatal care. So their is a fear of puppies. How developed they will be, how healthy they will be” The foster parent stated
So were the puppies healthy, would they need additional care or a vet visit?
