Gio, being the sensitive and smart assistance dog he is, did his absolute best to pull the teenager out of her trauma paralysis. FBI Agent Melody Tiddle witnessed it all. The teenager opened up to Gio. She started talking to him and snuggling with him. It is as if she got all the comfort she needed from the dog companion. The teenager later agreed to see a therapist with one condition – that Gio will be there by her side.
Gio, along with the other FBI Crisis Response Canines, continue to help victims and their families deal with the trauma brought by mass shootings. According to Agent Tiddle, having these wonderful dogs in their unit ease the pain and strain these young people experience. Gio continues to be a source of comfort and assurance to those who need them. The FBI is thankful to be colleagues with these fantastic creatures. Learn more by watching the video below.
