Cora and Palm were at the Seattle airport when Cora saw a man sitting alone and went over to him. As he started to dote on Cora, Palm went over to the man.
“Before I could even call her she was already at his feet being loved on. I asked him if she was bothering him,” Palm said. “And with a somber face and watery eyes he said, ‘No, no. I lost my dog last night.'”
Palm was surprised and deeply moved by the encounter.
It was then that Palm realized how special Cora was. She didn’t know this man, yet she was able to sense that he was sad and recently lost his dog.
Cora comforted the man for a while. He petted Cora, scratched behind her ears and told her how cute she was. It was a beautiful and emotional meeting.
“I truly think she has a gift. She knows who is hurting and she knows who needs her,” she said. “Once he told me that his dog passed away I looked at Cora and I thought to myself, ‘You are so amazing. How did I get so lucky?'”
Palm owned Cora for a few years. She bought Cora from another family that unfortunately neglected her. They put her up for sale in a Facebook post indicating that she was killing the chickens. Palm went and met Cora and fell in love, the rest is history.
It turns out that Cora had never been taken to the vet. She had an ear infection in both ears and her teeth were rotted. When Palm gave her a bath for the first time, the bath water turned black. This poor baby was seriously neglected.
