Despite giving birth 12 weeks prior to the competition, this Doberman mom competed for America’s top dog.
When civilian dogs compete on America’s Top dog, they are called the underdogs. Nobody expects them to perform as well as trained K9s, but the crowd will cheer them on. If they do outperform the K9s, it’s a reason to celebrate.
For this episode, we have April Vaillancourt, who has 30 years of dog training experience. Her partner is Rogue, a Doberman. The surprising fact about her dog is that 3 months before the competition, Rogue gave birth.
April is dedicating her performance to her late mother. Her love of dogs came from her mother. This was a night when two girls try to get the title of America’s Top Dog.

How Did Rogue Manage to Compete?
The start Rogue had wasn’t the smoothest. However, she was a fast dog and quickly moved through the cars. April believes Rogue’s advantage is her speed.
The next level is called the fire escape. The dog needs to pull down a roped ball. Rogue’s breed is not as inclined to grab a ball compared to other dogs, so this stage took a while. Fortunately, the handler is allowed to pull it after 30 seconds if the dog doesn’t respond.
The next obstacles demonstrated the sheer speed, and athleticism Rogue has. She might have lost a lot of time back at the 2nd level, but she aced the high jumps. The rope bridge was also cleared in a matter of seconds.
Finally, the last obstacle proved to be no trouble for the agile Rogue. They finished with the second-fastest time for the night. Together they move on to the second round.
Team Rogue has three minutes to find five specific items from inside a maze. For a civilian dog, it’s very difficult to perform a sniffing task. However, Rogue managed to quickly find three items.
You have to Watch until the end to Find out if Rogue Won.
