A yorkshire terrier named Bear was hailed a hero after saving his owners from the clutches of a rattle snake bite. Sometimes bravery comes in small packages.
A loyal friend in need is a friend indeed
Residents of South Dakota, Alex and Devin Diede were out with Bear hiking near Centennial trail by Sheridan lake.
The Diedes didn’t hear the rattlesnake as it approached from beneath the grassy overgrowth.
However, Bear heard the snake and sensed the imminent danger. As the rattlesnake suddenly lunged at the group Bear jumped in the way within seconds of the owners being in the path of attack. It punctured Bears chest near his shoulder. If the rattlesnake had attacked a few seconds later, this story would have ended differently.
“Alex would have stepped on the snake and bit her if Bear had not been there to take the bite,” Devin said.
