Your dog may love a lot of things but poking and prodding in their ears in the name of keeping them clean IS NOT! It’s simply uncomfortable and can be painful if done incorrectly. This article will help you keep Fido’s ears clean and the both of you happy!
We all know as dog lovers that its important to keep Fido’s sensitive ears clean and it’s not like we can convince them that its good for their health. You can’t speak dog language and tell them that you don’t want them to get ear infections and avoid costly trips to the vet! So the way to get it done is to find a quick, pain-free and comfortable way of cleaning their ears. They won’t likely thank you but these tips will make it easier on the both of you.
#1- Ouch, Say “No” to Q-Tips
When they see that Q-tip and your looking at them do they go run and hide? That’s a hint right there, drop the dang Q-tip! You may use Q-tips for your own ear wax but that actually a bad idea for you and fido. When your dog is uncomfortable they may wiggle which could lead you to push the Q-tip in deeper and rupture fido’s ear drum. Ruptured ear drums are not only painful and could cost you a trip to the vet but also cause hearing loss which I’m sure neither of you want. So next time they wont even let you come close to their ears. So do yourself and your pet family members a huge favor and swear off q-tips for cleaning their ears! Instead use cotton balls or ear wipes specifically made for this purpose.
