Ima was a three-year-old hound mix who was once abandoned by her original owner in North Carolina. Her neighbor took her in, but the terrified dog ran away. She returned after a month, but she got pregnant. Ima was brought to the shelter, and the staff expected her to give birth to her puppies any time soon.
Sarah Freeman, Ima’s foster mom, said that the neighbor had to surrender her to the shelter as she couldn’t afford to take care of Ima and her pups. Freeman volunteered for Greater Charlotte SPCA for 18 months and had fostered more than 60 dogs. The dogs at the shelter were taught socialization skills so they could easily adjust to their new family. As Ima’s due date was fast approaching, Freeman thought about treating her to a maternity photoshoot.
She wanted Ima to look great in her photos, so she gathered balloons in assorted colors and put the message “Ready to POP!” Ima’s pictorial wouldn’t be complete without dressing her up with a “New-Mom-to-Be” sash and a faux flower crown. Freeman loved taking photos of her foster dogs and share them on the shelter’s Instagram account. During the photoshoot, all eyes were on Ima, and she loved the attention she got.

Ima’s puppies would also be available for adoption once they were at least six-weeks-old. They also needed to spay Ima before she could find her forever home. At the moment, Ima enjoyed her role being a mom to her cute puppies.Between shots, she enjoyed the belly rubs she received. Freeman promised to shower the puppies with the same love she gave to Ima. For Freeman, fostering dogs was a rewarding experience. Although she had always loved dogs, she never expected that she would help them. She added that watching abandoned dogs transform into loving creatures was such a fantastic feeling.
