Returning the Favor
Everything seemed fine until Loki suffered a medical problem of her own. She has been sidelined and had to undergo an ACL operation, which is rather expensive. Upon hearing this, her UMMC family did not think twice about helping her. They all took part and shared in Loki’s successful operation.
Loki had recovered, and then when the pandemic came, their routine of visiting the UMMC had been affected as stricter measures of social distancing were imposed. Not to be disheartened by these circumstances, Caroline thought of a way to visit them. She and Loki began to visit their friends at the hospital virtually. They needed to boost the morale of the Medical team on the frontline.
Helping in the New Normal
As a way of thanksgiving, Caroline thought of giving out kits that contained trial-size self-care essentials like skin moisturizers, lip balm, medicated powder, tea, energy bars, which she called, “Hero Healing Kits.” Caroline knew how hard it is to be wearing these PPEs all day long. These self-care essentials may be small in size, but these can help perk up their moods.
So far, Loki and Caroline had distributed more than 5,000 kits already. The project reached the hearts of many individuals who wanted to help and share. Now, the “Hero Healing Kits” are not just meant for those in the medical field. They have also been extended to firefighters and police serving on the frontline. To think that it all started with the simple thought of giving back.
