Since most office workers, if not all, are currently working at home during this pandemic, video conferencing has become a constant part of their workdays. And whether they admit it or not, sometimes these video conferences are not exactly the most interesting part of their job. But that is about to change.
A Virtual Fur Friend?
An animal shelter started a new program that will be able to allow schools, companies, and individuals in the country to experience having a fur friend around in their virtual conferences. Many homeless cats or dogs are now bringing happiness and excitement into video conferencing around the country. The results are very adorable to boot!
The director of the Richmond Animal Care & Control, Christie Chipps Peters, said that she and her team were thinking of ways to bring smiles to as many people as they can. Christie knows and has experienced the kind of love and comfort our fur friends can give us and wants others to feel the same. So they came up with the wonderful idea of letting the animals in their shelter join video conferencing and share the love of these pups with everyone.
Lets Have a Virtual Visit!
Having these wonderful shelter animals join anyone’s conferencing is the easiest thing to do. Anyone can simply send an email. They have to include the date and time of the video meeting and what kind of furball should join.

A request for a particular animal is allowed. But if they are not too sure about what kind of animal they want, only a few details are needed to find the perfect participant. The animals have different personalities and abilities, so the meeting will, for sure, never get boring.
If crazy is what they want, outdoor activities or playtime of the pups can be shared through the meeting. If a quiet and well-behaved pup is what they would like, there is no need to look too far away. For some of the tinier kittens, employees at the shelter made their very own mock offices.
A kitten’s office is complete with a to-do list, coffee cup, and a tiny desk. For now, only animals in the shelter get to participate, but soon the shelter plan to include those in foster care. Our fur friends are excited to join the meetings soon and maybe be invited to a forever home by one of the workers!
